Scaffolding combination nut is a special nut used to connect various rods (such as vertical rods, crossbars, etc.) during the construction of scaffolding. Its main function is to tightly fix the various parts of the scaffolding together by cooperating with bolts or screws to ensure the stability and safety of the scaffolding structure. In the scaffolding system, the reliability of the combination nut is directly related to whether the entire scaffolding can withstand the expected load and prevent safety accidents caused by loose connections.

Structural features

Multi-layer structure: usually composed of a main nut and some additional components. The main nut is generally made of high-strength metal materials (such as carbon steel) and has a standard thread for tight engagement with the screw. Additional components may include washers, anti-loosening washers or nylon inserts. For example, washers can increase the contact area between the nut and the connected part, disperse the pressure, and prevent the surface of the connected part from being crushed; anti-loosening washers can effectively prevent the nut from loosening due to vibration during use.

Specially designed threads: The threaded part has a high design accuracy and can fit tightly with the screw on the scaffolding rod. Types

Ordinary combination nuts with washers: This is the most basic type, consisting of nuts and ordinary flat washers. Flat washers can buffer and evenly distribute pressure. This type of combination nut can be used in some non-critical parts of the scaffolding, such as for connecting auxiliary crossbars to make the scaffolding structure more regular.

Anti-loosening combination nuts: contain anti-loosening washers or adopt special anti-loosening designs. For example, a common anti-loosening combination nut has a nylon insert inside. When the nut is tightened, the nylon insert will hold the screw tightly, generating friction, thereby effectively preventing the nut from loosening. This type of nut is often used in key connection parts of scaffolding, such as the connection between the vertical pole and the crossbar, because once these parts are loose, they may cause the overall structure of the scaffolding to be unstable.

Installation and use points

Correct installation order: When installing the combination nut, the washer (if any) should be placed on the connected part first, and then the nut should be screwed onto the screw. If it is a combination nut with a locking gasket, pay attention to the installation direction of the locking gasket, generally according to the mark on the gasket or according to its structural characteristics, so that the gasket can play the best locking effect.

Tightening degree control: Use appropriate tools (such as wrenches) to tighten the nuts. Make sure that the nuts are tightened to a sufficient degree so that the scaffolding rods are tightly connected, but avoid over-tightening to cause damage to the screw or deformation of the connected parts. Generally speaking, after tightening, you can judge whether the tightening degree is appropriate by checking whether the nut and the washer (if any) fit tightly and observing whether there are signs of looseness between the scaffolding rods.

Regular inspection and maintenance: During the use of the scaffolding, the status of the combination nuts should be checked regularly. Since the scaffolding may be affected by factors such as wind, sun, rain, and vibration during construction, the combination nuts may become loose or corroded. During the inspection, check whether the nut has signs of looseness, whether the threaded part is corroded, and whether the locking parts are invalid. If problems are found, the combination nuts should be replaced in time.
